Bio:

Meg Burstow is a versatile Brisbane-based pianist who enjoys a diverse career as a performer, accompanist, and educator.

A graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University where she studied both Classical and Jazz Piano, Meg was the 2018 recipient of the prestigious Conservatorium Medal, as well as the Sid SJ Bromley Jazz Award for Outstanding Student, the Victoria Chalmers Education Award, and the Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship.

Meg's background as a jazz pianist and choral accompanist has enabled her to develop a strong affinity for working with singers and vocal groups.  In 2021, Meg was the Musical Director for Women in Voice, as well as a keys player and rehearsal pianist for several local productions including Ipswich Musical Theatre Company's award-winning Pirates of Penzance and Legend House's All Together Now at the Gold Coast Star Casino.  She is looking forward to several upcoming productions in 2022, including continued workshops and musical support of the vocal program at Aldridge State High School in Maryborough, where she has helped facilitate a professional band to accompany students for school and community events since 2019.

Meg has extensive experience performing for weddings and corporate events, and is available for booking as a soloist, duo, or larger group.  Past clients have included QANTAS, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Griffith University, and the Queensland Government.

As a freelance musician, she is a skilled player in a broad range of styles including jazz, salsa, and pop music.  Current projects include salsa band Salseros and Indian fusion artist Menaka

Meg is also an experienced accompanist for both soloists and choirs, and plays regularly for AMEB exams, auditions, and school concerts.  She is currently engaged as a piano teacher and choral conductor at St Laurence's College, and as a sessional accompanist at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
