This 2020 film written, produced and directed by Jasmila Zbanic, was nominated for Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards and won Best Film at the 34th European Film Awards. The film dramatizes the events of the Srebenica massacre in July 1995 when Serbian troops led by infamous Ratho Vladic executed many Bosnian men and boys. The horrific events are exposed via the eyes of Aida, a mother who is a translator for the UN. David Stratton gave the film 4.5 stars and most other critics were very positive. Relevant today in view of what is currently happening in Ukraine.
