Based at The Old Museum in Brisbane, Qld Youth Orchestras (QYO) is a world class youth orchestra organisation with 500 musicians in 7 orchestras including 3 symphony, 2 wind Orchestras and a big band.

The Queensland Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (QYPO) is a 70-member symphony  orchestra formed by QYO for regional touring. The QYPO members range in age from 10 to 24 and play a broad range of popular classical repertoire from the baroque period through to the current day. The orchestra’s tour from 25 to 27 June includes concerts at the Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg and Maryborough.

Conductor: David Deacon

David Deacon is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium where he studied violin and viola with Elizabeth Morgan and John Curro.  He undertook  post graduate studies with the German violist Wolfram Christ, Principal Viola of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.  From an early age David was an active soloist, chamber player and orchestral musician performing across Australia and throughout  Europe and America.
